The European Commission is expected to rule on the deal by Feb. 14.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives from the European Commission didn&#8217;t immediately respond to CNBC&#8217;s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The deal is still under review by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. The U.K.&#8217;s Competition and Markets Authority <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/06\/16\/irobot-shares-surge-after-uk-regulator-clears-amazon-acquisition-.html\">said in June<\/a> the deal would not result in &#8220;a substantial lessening of competition&#8221; in the U.K.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AMZN\/\">Amazon<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> shares were flat.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/08\/05\/amazon-to-acquire-maker-of-roomba-vacuum-for-roughly-1point7-billion.html\">announced its intention<\/a> to acquire iRobot in August 2022 for $61 a share in an all-cash deal.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition marks Amazon&#8217;s fourth-largest deal, behind its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2017\/06\/16\/amazon-is-buying-whole-foods-in-a-deal-valued-at-13-point-7-billion.html\">$13.7 billion purchase<\/a>\u00a0of grocery chain Whole Foods in 2017, its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/05\/26\/amazon-to-buy-mgm-studios-for-8point45-billion.html\">$8.45 billion purchase<\/a>\u00a0of film studio MGM in 2021 and its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/07\/21\/amazon-to-buy-primary-health-care-provider-one-medical-for-roughly-3point9-billion.html\">$3.9 billion acquisition<\/a>\u00a0of boutique primary-care provider One Medical, announced last July.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2014 CNBC&#8217;s Annie Palmer contributed to this report.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/CNBC?sub_confirmation=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Subscribe to CNBC on YouTube.<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Don&#8217;t miss these stories from CNBC PRO:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>iRobot&#8217;s Roomba.
