The union didn\u2019t immediately provide details about pilot pay increases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The company\u2019s pilots will need to approve the preliminary contract. CNBC\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/12\/01\/southwest-pilots-union-near-a-preliminary-labor-deal.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>\u00a0earlier this month that the two sides were close to a deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">American, United and Delta pilots finalized deals earlier this year that were worth billions and gave aviators double-digit pay hikes. The Covid-19 pandemic derailed negotiations across the industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">As travel demand snapped back, pilots, flight attendants and other aviation workers have pushed for not just higher pay, but also better working conditions such as more predictable schedules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Labor unions have flexed their power throughout the year, yielding a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/08\/27\/labor-unions-winning-better-pay-hours.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">string<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/11\/30\/fords-2023-guidance-uaw-deal-cost.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">big labor deals<\/a>\u00a0including agreements between Hollywood studios and actors, and the studios and writers, as well as between\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/11\/30\/fords-2023-guidance-uaw-deal-cost.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">automakers<\/a>\u00a0and the United Auto Workers\u00a0union.
