Boeing\u00a0is urging airlines to inspect 737 Max planes<\/a> to look for a \u201cpossible loose bolt\u201d in the rudder control system, the latest quality issue <\/a>to affect the manufacturer\u2019s bestselling jetliner.<\/p>\n The company recommended the inspections after \u201can international operator discovered a bolt with a missing nut while performing routine maintenance on a mechanism in the rudder-control linkage,\u201d the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement Thursday. \u201cThe company discovered an additional undelivered aircraft with a nut that was not properly tightened.\u201d<\/p>\n The inspections will take about two hours per plane, and all new 737 Maxes will undergo the check before they\u2019re handed over to customers, Boeing said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe issue identified on the particular airplane has been remedied,\u201d Boeing said in a statement.\u00a0\u201cOut of an abundance of caution, we are recommending operators inspect their 737 MAX airplanes and inform us of any findings.\u201d<\/p>\n Shares of Boeing were down more than 1% in afternoon trading.<\/p>\n Alaska Airlines\u00a0plans to start the inspections on Thursday.
