{"id":7671,"date":"2025-01-06T21:59:26","date_gmt":"2025-01-06T21:59:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/demo5.dedicatedhost247.com\/zexo\/nvidia-chip-stocks-pop-after-foxconn-reports-record-revenue\/"},"modified":"2025-01-06T21:59:26","modified_gmt":"2025-01-06T21:59:26","slug":"nvidia-chip-stocks-pop-after-foxconn-reports-record-revenue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo5.dedicatedhost247.com\/zexo\/nvidia-chip-stocks-pop-after-foxconn-reports-record-revenue\/","title":{"rendered":"Nvidia, chip stocks pop after Foxconn reports record revenue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"RegularArticle-ArticleBody-5\" data-module=\"ArticleBody\" data-test=\"articleBody-2\" data-analytics=\"RegularArticle-articleBody-5-2\"><span class=\"HighlightShare-hidden\" style=\"top:0;left:0\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"InlineImage-imageEmbed\" id=\"ArticleBody-InlineImage-107247673\" data-test=\"InlineImage\">\n<div class=\"InlineImage-wrapper\">\n<div>\n<p>Jakub Porzyck | Nurphoto | Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>Global semiconductor stocks climbed Monday after contract electronics giant <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/2317-TW\/\">Foxconn<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/01\/06\/foxconn-beats-estimates-with-record-fourth-quarter-revenue-on-ai-demand.html\">record fourth-quarter revenue<\/a>, suggesting the artificial intelligence boom has far more room to run.<\/p>\n<p>Hon Hai Precision Industry, which does business as Foxconn internationally, said in a Sunday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxconn.com\/en-us\/press-center\/press-releases\/latest-news\/1509\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> that the company&#8217;s fourth-quarter revenue totaled 2.1 trillion New Taiwan dollars ($63.9 billion), growing 15% year over year.<\/p>\n<p>Foxconn \u2014 which is a supplier to <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AAPL\/\">Apple<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2014 also set a record, posting the highest fourth-quarter revenue ever in company history, according to the statement.<\/p>\n<p>The firm&#8217;s bumper revenue performance was driven by growth in its cloud and networking products \u2014 which includes AI servers like those designed by the likes of chipmaker <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NVDA\/\">Nvidia<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2014 and components and other product segments.<\/p>\n<p>Computing products and smart consumer electronics \u2014 which numbers iPhone and other smartphones \u2014 saw &#8220;slight declines,&#8221; Foxconn said.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of several semiconductor firms across Asia, Europe and the U.S. rose, as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Stateside, Nvidia got a boost from the Foxconn numbers, closing up more than 3% on Monday. <\/p>\n<p>Jensen Huang, Nvidia&#8217;s CEO, is slated to deliver a keynote address at\u00a0the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show 2025 later Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Also boosting chip stocks more generally is Microsoft&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.microsoft.com\/on-the-issues\/2025\/01\/03\/the-golden-opportunity-for-american-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announcement<\/a> at the end of last week about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/01\/03\/microsoft-expects-to-spend-80-billion-on-ai-data-centers-in-fy-2025.html\">plans to invest $80 billion in 2025 on data centers that can handle AI workloads<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft is one of several tech giants splurging on GPUs, or graphics processing units, from Nvidia to train and run the most advanced AI models.<\/p>\n<p>AMD, Nvidia&#8217;s closest rival, also closed up more than 3% Monday, while fellow U.S. chip firms <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-8\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/QCOM\/\">Qualcomm<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-9\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AVGO\/\">Broadcom<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> also climbed more than 1%.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"Placeholder-ArticleBody-Video-108082147\">\n<div role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" id=\"Placeholder-ArticleBody-Video-108082147\" class=\"PlaceHolder-wrapper\" data-vilynx-id=\"7000362623\" data-test=\"VideoPlaceHolder\">\n<div class=\"InlineVideo-videoEmbed\" id=\"InlineVideo-0\" data-test=\"InlineVideo\">\n<div class=\"InlineVideo-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"InlineVideo-inlineThumbnailContainer\"><span class=\"InlineVideo-videoButton\"\/><span\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>In Asia, <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/2330-TW\/\">Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> hit a record high Monday and closed up almost 5% in Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p>The largest semiconductor manufacturer globally, TSMC produces chips for the likes of <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-11\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AMD\/\">Advanced Micro Devices<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> and Nvidia.<\/p>\n<p>Other Asian chip firms also logged share price gains \u2014 South Korea&#8217;s SK Hynix and Samsung rose nearly 10% and 4%, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In Europe, global critical semiconductor equipment firm ASML saw its shares close 8.7% higher, while fellow Dutch chip company ASMI&#8217;s stock closed up 6.2%.
