Spirit Airlines customers have to don unprovocative\u00a0clothes that do not expose \u201cbreasts, buttocks, or other private parts\u201d when aboard the low-cost carrier, according to new standards posted this week.<\/p>\n
The Florida-based airline updated its \u201ccontract of carriage\u201d terms on Wednesday with updated language covering the appearance of passengers.<\/p>\n
A customer can be taken off the flight if they are \u201cbarefoot or inadequately clothed (i.e., see-through clothing; not adequately covered; exposed breasts, buttocks, or other private parts) or whose clothing or article, including body art, is lewd, obscene, or offensive in nature,\u201d according to <\/a>Pages 9 and 10 the updated <\/a>standards<\/a>.<\/p>\n Before Wednesday, the standard was more vague.<\/p>\n Page 9 of the guidance, as it appeared on Tuesday, <\/a>said only that \u201cbarefoot or inadequately clothed\u201d passengers and those \u201cwhose clothing is lewd, obscene, or offensive in nature\u201d could be taken off.<\/p>\n A representative for Spirit Airlines could not be immediately reached for comment on Friday to explain why the added language was necessary.<\/p>\n Spirit serves<\/a> several <\/a>major U.S. cities such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and Denver in addition to <\/a>locales in <\/a>Central and South America<\/a>.<\/p>\n It\u2019s also a popular target of comedians<\/a>, who enjoy poking fun of the airline\u2019s ultra-no-frills nature.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
